Papier Craft
Papercraft is truly amazing.
From what I see from these photos, Raya creates a lot of layers to create the human figures and also it seems that she uses the actual mechanics of the real object being imitated in her pieces. She uses a very thin (3mm) separators to create some depth with each pieces. It is also visibly seen that she cuts up very small pieces as seen to create a very interesting form.
I see her layering more as a way to create movement lines, like this javelin piece. It makes everything a lot more interesting to look at, and the lighting and shadowing really helps the viewer see the form as if it wasn't layered.
I chose to look at Raya Sader Bujana's pieces mainly because of it's very interesting way of creating form, and that is by layers and layers of paper. I personally have done something very similar back in my high school, that's why I have a very huge respect to her art pieces since it is time consuming, but as Raya said in her interviews, it pays off in the end.
That's pretty much it.
